Kinderlachen campaign helps street workers
Many people can surely remember the oversized Dortmund Advent calendar - and rightly so: 24 good deeds were made possible by the campaign of the Kinderlachen e.V. organisation. ATLAS provided two donation packages for the calendar. One of them will be redeemed throughout June: There will be free lunch for homeless young people provided by Streetwork, the youth welfare office in Dortmund-Nordstadt. As a result of the Advent calendar the two institutions began to work together and support people in Dortmund. "During the Christmas period we had the pleasure of receiving the donation from Kinderlachen and redeemed it in June," says Harald Landskröner from the Dortmund Streetwork service. Homeless young people get regular meals and water to drink at the facility in Nordstadt.

ATLAS makes a donation of €11,000
to Kinderlachen after B2Run
“Every step for a good cause” – in keeping with this slogan more than 1,000 runners started the B2Run company run on May 23rd. The shoe factory from Dortmund-Wickede donated €10 for each runner in the ATLAS team and can now hand over €11,000 to the children's aid organisation “Kinderlachen e.V.”.
After ATLAS had already worked together with the Kinderlachen organisation in the past, the company felt prompted to continue supporting the good work of Kinderlachen in Dortmund. "The company run was the ideal opportunity for this," says Maximilian Finke, marketing manager at ATLAS, "because it enabled us to also use the city-wide employee event for a good cause."
In order to collect as much money as possible, ATLAS brought in the largest team in Dortmund: the employees of the city of Dortmund. The idea was so well received there that the city decided to officially start in the fair-trade Kinderlachen jerseys from ATLAS. There were 1,024 runners in total - ATLAS rounded the sum up to €11,000.
"We are particularly pleased about this extraordinary sum," says Kinderlachen managing director Marc Peine, "especially because it came together in such a fine and sporting way". In line with this, the donation will also go back into sports projects for children, such as the project “A club for every child”, says Peine.
After a great run in perfect weather, ATLAS would now like to hand over this impressive sum to Kinderlachen and thank all the runners for their commitment!

Largest Advent calendar in the world
A scissor lift enabled the “Christkind” to hover at a lofty height. Accompanied by the brass choir and the “reading bear” reciting a Christmas story, it stopped in front of the container with the big white number twelve. And then came the great and long-awaited moment: The “Christkind” opened the door of the largest Advent calendar in the world. The anticipation was worth it. As a good deed, the Kinderlachen nurseries can look forward to a professional photo shoot worth about €5,000. As part of the opening festive event the donation in kind was symbolically presented by Kinderlachen ambassador Matze Knop and ATLAS, the sponsor of the good deed.
“We are very pleased that ATLAS is supporting our long-term project in Dortmund-Nordstadt. We would like to use our Kinderlachen nurseries to reduce the existing educational inequality and, in addition to eliminating social and linguistic disadvantages, above all promote the strengths of these children from an early age,” explains Marc Peine, co-founder and managing director of Kinderlachen e.V.
The Advent calendar consists of 30 sea containers, is 15 metres long, 13 metres high as well as six metres deep and weighs more than 64 tons.
